The Seychelles Tourism Board, together with the Ministry for Foreign and Affairs and Tourism, have re-emphasised that Seychelles is a safe destination to visit despite the recent rise in community Covid-19 cases which has prompted tighter health measures in the island destination earlier this week.

The new measures are not expected to affect visitors’ experience of the destination, and include delaying the commencement of the new school term and earlier closure of shops, bars and casinos. Local authorities are nevertheless urging all visitors to follow all health and sanitary guidelines in place, to ensure their safety throughout their stay.

CLIENTS SHOULD NOT FEEL DETERRED FROM VISITING

The recent surge in positive cases in the community has been attributed to people letting down their guard over the Easter weekend.

The Tourism Board’s CEO, Sherin Francis, stressed that potential clients should not feel deterred from visiting the island destination. Seychelles currently has the world’s highest percentage of vaccinated adults in the population, now that over 62% of all adults have been fully vaccinated.

The Minister for Foreign and Affairs and Tourism, Mr Sylvestre Radegonde, has also confirmed that Seychelles is committed to following all safety measures and protocols in place to safeguard both its visitors and the local population.

“The destination is investing a lot of effort and funds into making sure that the experience of our guests remains undisturbed,” he said. “Nonetheless, this can only be achieved if visitors also practice the safety and health measures in place.”

“No country in the world can claim to be COVID-free. The government and all industry partners are dedicated to ensuring that Seychelles remains safe for all guests and that they keep the best memories of their Seychelles’ holiday. It is not in the interest of Seychelles, our partners or our guests to do otherwise.”
