Visitors to Seychelles may now make use of public transport, including local buses, provided they follow all COVID-19 health and safety protocols in place. Previously, tourists had been barred from boarding Seychelles’ famous blue buses in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

On Friday, 6 August 2021, Seychelles Tourism announced that, after consultation with the Department of Health, this restriction would be lifted. The review took into consideration the increasing numbers of vaccinated visitors travelling to Seychelles and the country’s own high vaccination rates.

Visitors are now free to board public buses but must conform to all national health measures to prevent the spread of COVID19 and to all COVID19 health protocols being implemented by the Seychelles Public Transport Corporation (SPTC).

However, as far as possible, visitors are still being encouraged to make use of health-certified private transport providers, such as taxis, hired cars and DMC transfers to move around the islands.
