In view of the worsening Covid-19 outbreaks in certain parts of the world, Seychelles’ Public Health Commissioner announced on Tuesday, 20 April 2021, that further restrictions would be implemented regarding the number of countries permitted entry to Seychelles.

Almost one month ago, Seychelles opened their borders to visitors from all countries (except South Africa). However, as the island nation’s health authorities continue to monitor the development of the pandemic in other countries, it has been decided to restrict access to travellers from a selection of other countries, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Brazil.

NEW TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS

The new travel restrictions, in place as of 20 April 2021, are as follows:

  1. Visitors from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh travelling to Seychelles have to be vaccinated. Travellers will only be permitted entry after taking their two doses, and a minimum of two weeks has elapsed after their final dose. A copy of the vaccination certificate should be presented when applying for the Health Travel Authorisation (HTA) at www.seychelles.govtas.com. Vaccination certificates can be subjected to verification and approval by the Public Health Authority upon entry to Seychelles.
  1. Additionally, Brazil has now been added to the list of countries currently not permitted to travel to Seychelles, along with South Africa. However, this list remains subjected to revision as the global infection rate evolves.
  1. These measures do not apply to Seychelles citizens and permanent residents, who are permitted to travel and enter and must quarantine on arrival in accordance with Public Health Authority instructions.

Visitors are reminded that they must all have valid travel health insurance to cover potential COVID-19 related costs incurred during their stay in Seychelles. Travel Health Authorisation (available online at seychelles.govtas.com) is mandatory for travel to Seychelles, and will be requested by the airline company at check-in.  Visitors will not be allowed to board a flight otherwise.
