Starting July 1, 2021, the Seychelles islands will become more accessible to travellers from the GCC, as the Saudi Arabian-based airline, FlyNAS, will commence with direct flights from Jeddah to Mahé.

Operating three times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays), the 5:40 hour flight will be operated on brand new A320 Neo aircraft with seating-capacity for 174 passengers.

SAUDI ARABIA IS THE LARGEST OUTBOUND MARKET IN THE MIDDLE EAST

The new flights will make travelling to Seychelles more accessible than ever before for Saudi residents.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the largest outbound market in the Middle East. After the Kingdom opened its borders to international travel, many of it’s residents have been looking for safe overseas destinations to visit. The Seychelles’ Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr. Sylvestre Radegonde, said, “The destination has welcomed approximately 300 Saudi Arabian arrivals since January 2021. With the arrival of FlyNAS to our shores, the Ministry of Tourism is looking forward to see an increase in the number of visitors from Saudi Arabia and the surrounding regions.

The timing for these new flights is also opportune. The beginning the Gulf’s hot summer months coincide with the onset of our own cooler period and the southeast monsoon. Seychelles is an ideal destination for families and we look forward to welcoming families, honeymooners and expatriates from the Kingdom to experience the pleasure of being outdoors amidst the verdant nature and cooling oceans.”

Speaking about the upcoming arrival of FlyNAS to our shores, Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) Chief Executive, Mrs Sherin Francis, welcomed the announcement, saying the destination is expanding it’s reach and target of attracting new markets worldwide.

NEW ROUTE WILL GREATLY ENHANCE THE VISIBILITY OF THE DESTINATION

“We are excited that FlyNAS and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has finally opened up the Saudi Arabia-Seychelles route. We anticipate that this new route will greatly enhance the visibility of our destination in Saudi Arabia and its neighbouring regions. We believe that this will help build travel confidence for the destination,” said Mrs Sherin Francis.

Mr Ahmed Fathallah, STB representative in the Middle East, added, “We are delighted to share this announcement. Previously, the lack of direct flights has been a determining factor for travellers from the Kingdom that had wanted to experience Seychelles. These non-stop flights will drive demand for the sunny islands of Seychelles.”

Before departure from Jeddah, all visitors (regardless of their vaccination status), are requested to apply online for Health Travel Authorization (HTA) at seychelles.govtas.com.  Other entry requirements include presenting a negative PCR test result taken within 72 hours of their departure, and proof of valid travel health insurance covering any potential COVID-19 related costs.

Visitors will not be subjected to any quarantine or movement restrictions on arrival. However, they must follow the existing health regulations, including the use of facemasks in public and social distancing.

Flights are available for booking at Flynas.com and through travel agents. The flight schedule from Jeddah to Seychelles as of July 1, 2021 is as follows:
